How to make $25 do a lot of good...
February 15th, 2010
Ever hear of Peer-to-Peer Lending? How about Micro Lending? I'd read a few articles about the practice but didn't realize I could get involved and actually make a loan until I heard about Kiva.org.

It's a great site with a great mission "to connect people, through lending, for the sake of alleviating poverty." What's that mean to you and me? Through Kiva and you can lend as little as $25 to the entrepreneur of your choosing and track the recipient's progress online. Of course, you can lend MORE than $25 and to more than one person but that's up to you. And when the loan is paid back? You can pull your money out OR lend it to someone new. You can choose someone in a far off land looking to start a furniture company or someone right here in the US who just needs a little help getting a business off the ground.
My very first loan is 40% repaid and I'm looking for a new one!
